We are searching for enthusiastic and hardworking individuals and offering them the opportunity to become Clinical Trials Associates (CTA) via our apprentice programme. We seek entry requirements of at least five GCSEs grades A – C including Mathematics, Science and English as well as Level 3 qualifications including A levels, NVQ/SVQ Level 3, or a BTEC National.  This must include a science subject.

This post would ideally suit someone who is interested in a career in a healthcare setting. Those looking for a challenge within a busy working environment, eager to develop clinical skills. Candidates will undergo a course syllabus in Healthcare science delivered by an external training provider detailing principles and practices as well as understanding of person-centered care.

The Healthcare Assistant Practitioner course, specifies a range of Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours that together form the Core Competencies of the role. Apprentices are assessed by an Independent Assessment Organisation (IAO) as End Pont Assessor (EPA), using different methods to demonstrate competence in various areas including clinical care, research/innovation and more.

The role primarily includes liaising with study volunteers and collaborators to facilitate the efficient running of the study, performing clinical tasks (such as ECG, vital signs, blood sampling and serving meals) and maintaining records when a trial is in progress. Candidates will ensure that the ward space is maintained to a high clinical standard, to ensure a clean and safe environment free of hazards as well as labelling PK and Plasma tubes according to the study protocols. In addition, you will be provided training in Basic and Intermediate Life Support.

You must also be fully flexible. Our services operate 24 hours, 365 days a year so you must be able to cover a variety of shifts including early, late shifts and weekends.

Applicants must be fluent in English both oral and written; we also welcome applicants who are fluent in Japanese. Attention to detail, self-motivation, enthusiasm and the ability to work well in a team are essential.

Achievement of the Pearson BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Healthcare Science will deem learners ready to undertake the End-point Assessment (EPA) for the Healthcare Science Trailblazer Apprenticeship. On successful completion of the EPA and achievement of the Apprenticeship, learners will be able to register on the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS) professional register.
